Maidra Platform is Built for Trust, Protection, and Florida Compliance

Maidra works with independent service providers, not employees. Providers who operate on the Maidra platform do so as independent contractors (1099), maintaining control over how, when, and whether they perform services.

At the same time, Maidra operates a Florida-based platform that facilitates services inside private homes. Florida law allows businesses to set reasonable standards to protect legitimate business interests, client safety, and platform integrity. The information we request is designed to meet those standards—not to control your work.

Below is a clear explanation of why each requirement exists.

Independent Contractor Status (Important Clarification)

Under Florida law, independent contractors:

• Control their own work methods
• Provide their own tools and supplies
• Decide whether to accept or decline jobs
• Are responsible for their own taxes and insurance

Nothing in Maidra’s independent provider registration process creates an employer–employee relationship.

Verification requirements exist to protect clients, providers, and the platform, not to supervise or direct your work.

Identity Verification

Why we require it:

Florida businesses operating in residential settings have a duty to take reasonable steps to verify who is being granted access to client homes. Identity verification helps prevent fraud, protects homeowners, and supports platform safety.

What this is NOT:

• It is not employment onboarding
• It is not background monitoring
• It is not used to direct or control your work

Why this protects you:

• Verified providers are less likely to face false claims, disputes, or payment issues.

Individual vs. Business Information

Why we ask:

Florida law recognizes that independent contractors may operate:

• As individuals / sole proprietors, or
• Through registered business entities

Key Clarification:

• You are not required to have an LLC, EIN, business registration, or website to work with Maidra
• If you do operate as a registered business, accurate records are required for compliance and tax reporting

This ensures transparency and proper classification under Florida law.

Liability Insurance (Required in Florida)

Why Maidra requires liability insurance:

Florida law permits platforms to require insurance to mitigate foreseeable risk. Because Maidra facilitates services inside private residences, liability coverage is a baseline protection requirement.

Insurance protects:

• You (from personal financial exposure)
• The homeowner
• The platform

Our position is firm:

Liability insurance is a non-negotiable prerequisite for activation on the Maidra platform in Florida.

This requirement:

• Enables access to higher-value homes
• Supports recurring and long-term clients
• Reduces disputes and personal risk
• Aligns with Florida risk-management standards

Transportation & Vehicle Information

Why this is required:

Reliable transportation is essential for service fulfillment. Vehicle information helps:

• Helps clients remotely identify who is in the driveway from cameras 
• Resolve scheduling or access disputes
• Support safety and accountability
• Verify provider reliability

What Maidra does NOT do:

• We do not track providers
• We do not control routes or schedules
• We do not share vehicle details publicly

This information exists solely for platform integrity and dispute resolution.

Client Photos & Privacy Protection

Florida privacy standards matter.

Maidra requires strict respect for client privacy.

Why photos may be requested:

• To verify completion if a dispute arises
• To protect providers from false claims

What is strictly prohibited:

• Public sharing of client photos
• Retaining images beyond platform needs
• Using client information outside the job

Florida law recognizes privacy rights inside private residences. Maidra enforces those protections for everyone’s benefit.

Background Checks (Where Permitted)

Why background checks may be required:

Florida allows background screening where reasonable and lawful, particularly for services performed inside homes.

Important notes:

• Background checks do not automatically disqualify providers
• They are conducted only where legally permitted
• They exist to protect platform trust and client safety

Why Maidra Sets Higher Standards

Florida law allows businesses to protect legitimate business interests, including:

• Client relationships and goodwill
• Platform reputation
• Safety and risk mitigation

Maidra has chosen a premium, trust-based model, not a volume-only marketplace.

Higher standards:

• Attract better clients
• Support consistent work opportunities
• Reduce disputes and liability
• Protect experienced providers from bad actors

This model is intentional and not every contractor marketplace is built this way.
